NICMOS SPECTRAL FILTER PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS

The spectral characteristics of the NICMOS flight filters and/or witness samples were measured at cryogenic (150K) temperature and normal incidence at Ball Aerospace. All filters had the spectral transmission measured from 500 to 2700 nm with a slit bandwidth of 5 nm and a step size of 1 nm. These low resolution scans were for determining spectral leaks, etc. No significant out-of-band leaks were found. The filters were then rescanned at higher resolution, 2.5 nm slit bandwidth and 0.5 nm step size or 1.0 nm slit bandwidth and 0.2 nm step size respectively for the broader and narrower filters.
